About Hey Darling

Hey. I'm Trish, the Owner of Hey Darling, and this is where I tell you how fate, and my long love of Romance books (and being a hopeless romantic) came to be “Hey Darling”.

The bookstore came at a time in my life when I was at my lowest. I was losing my spark, my passion for books. And helping my friend relocate her store to our hometown is how I found the space for Hey Darling. Which is in a Historical building in Downtown Austin, MN. (Right down the street from hers) When I saw the space I immediately fell in love with it. I started to see a whole future in this building, I started to imagine what it would be like to be mine. All of the dreams I suddenly had cast aside came rushing forward demanding to be heard. I took it as a sign.

I made the terrifying decision to leave my long  time job, and I signed the lease. We only had two months to remodel but we finally opened our doors on October 12th, 2024, and my life was forever changed. Hey Darling, is now a place for the Romantics. It’s a place to meet other book lovers, laugh at book clubs, and have fun at one of our many events. More importantly, Hey Darling, is my love letter to you, and that is why everything in the store feels so personal. Because it is. It is years of my hopes and dreams of a place I’ve always wanted that now finally exists. It's much more to me than a “bookstore” or a “business”. It truly is my life, and my community and I finally get to share it with others.
